About this speaker
Dr. Panagiotis Skendros, is Associate Professor of Internal Medicine at the First Department of Internal Medicine of University Hospital of Alexandroupolis. He graduated from the Medical School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 1995 and trained in Internal Medicine at the Infectious Diseases Hospital and Hippokration Hospital in Thessaloniki. He received his PhD in Immunology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2006. He received advanced training in Immunology & Immunogenetics at the Laboratoire Central d’ Immunologie Cellulaire et Tissulaire/CERVI of Pitie-Salpetriere Hospital, and at the INSERM/UPMC UMRS 945, Lab Immunogénétique, in Paris. His research interests and key publications focus on innate immunity mechanisms in inflammation, thrombosis, and infection (PubMed link). He is coordinator and PI in collaborative research projects funded from GSRT (GR) and ERDF (EU). He has also served as external reviewer for PubMed indexed medical journals and EU- funded research grants. In parallel, he works as consultant at the University Hospital of Alexandroupolis with special interest for patients with systemic autoimmune and autoinflammatory diseases. Currently, he is Board Member of the Hellenic Society of Immunology, and Member of the Scientific Advisory Committee and the Ethics Review Board of University Hospital of Alexandroupolis.
